Pre-Arrival Information - Visitor Visa

Students who fail to obtain a resident visa before arriving in Taiwan may apply for a visitor visa to enter Taiwan. They will need to apply for a resident visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs after completing the University registration process.
To apply for a visitor visa, please prepare:

  1. A passport valid for at least six months;
  2. A duly completed application form with two photos;
  3. An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof of purchase of steamship ticket;
  4. Documents verifying the purpose of visit; and
  5. Other relevant documents.

For foreign nationals from countries with which the R.O.C. has entered into reciprocal visa agreement, the visa is issued gratis. The validity of the visa shall be decided in accordance with these agreements.
For other foreign nationals, the visa application fees are NT$1,200 for single entry; NT$2,400 for multiple entry; NT$3,600 for US Citizens. Most students are allowed to stay in Taiwan for sixty days and may apply at the relevant city/county foreign affairs police headquarters for an extension.
Please notify that if a visitor enters Taiwan under the visa-exempt program or on a landing visa, he/she is not allowed to change his/her visa status in Taiwan. Visa application forms can be downloaded from the Web site of the Bureau of Consular Affairs,
