R.O.C. currency includes NT$2000, NT$1000, NT$500, NT$200 and NT$100 bills, each in a different size and color. Coins are in NT$50, NT$10, NT$5 and NT$1 denominations. R.O.C. currency is based on a decimal system, with 100 cents per dollar.
To avoid delays and cash-flow problems, you may want to open an account in an R.O.C. bank in your home country that has at least one branch in Taiwan. You would then be able to transfer funds from the bank in your country to that bank’s branch in Taiwan, avoiding the long delay (4 to 8 weeks) required to process a check issued in a foreign currency by a foreign bank.
It is very important for you to be familiar with your government’s regulations for transferring funds to the R.O.C. You should also check with your bank in your country regarding fees charged for transferring funds to the R.O.C.
